| Generally, I am a low-carb sort of person - I find that carbs make me want more carbs and I can't control it. Pizza, pasta and potatoes to me are like heroin to a smack head. The best policy is abstinence where possible, but this is difficult. I could happily live of meat and far for months on end and irrespective of what your views are on that, it works for me.. honestly.. it works very well. Where it fails me, is that whilst this type of eating is great for slow burn activities, if you are doing something that requires yours muscles burn a lot of calories quickly - low carb is pants. I discovered this the first time I went for a real tunnel stint at Skyventure Orlando where some of the finest flyers going tried to help me get in to sit .. and I just didn't have the energy to hold my arms there. Pathetic I know, but for a long time I thought it was a strength issue - until it's recently twigged that it isn't anything to do with strength, its to do with the way I eat and the availablity of energy. So what I do know is low carb still .. but when I know I'm going to be doing some hardcore flying - I load up on complex carbs such as oats etc a few hours before flying.. this has helped my flying stamina infinitely. Ofcourse.. it leaves me wanting to eat more for days afterwards but it's the only thing I can do ..
Anyway.. do you guys and girls eat anything in particular before going off for a flying session, do you think about it at all .. or is it just saddos like me with life-long weight problems that concern themselves with this stuff?

| I generally eat Clif Bars. The aren't overly filling, so you don't feel icky when you get in the tunnel right after eating them. They are organic, and they provide a nice balance of protein, carbs and fat. Plus, they are fast and only cost about $1.25 a piece, so they work out perfect. And, unlike almost all other energy/nutrition bars, these don't taste like crap. They are actually really good.

| | Clif bars? Hmmm I don't think I have seen these over here in the UK, although I will keep my eye out. The next time I am in the US I will try some for sure. |
