| Now. Last time I was out at Skyventure Orlando for any length of time .. and this was quite a while ago now .. there was a deep, dark rumour that the likes of Joe had tried flying a board in the tunnel. I could be wrong, it does happen from time to time - there was an incident back in 1981, which I can remember quite clearly .. In any case .. who has seen tunnel boarding in action .. is there a future for it .. could it properly develop in to a discipline in it's own right .. or is it just tttOOooOOoOO crazy??
Thoughts and comments welcome .. |

| People have been starpping boards on their feet and flying in the tunnel for a long while. I first did it in 1992 with a modified skateboard. I am sure before that I had seen it, but I know that is when I first did it. Mary Tortamasi from Vegas, now works in Perris trained at both flyaways for years with her skyboard. I know a bunch of other tunnel rats who can really get down on the board. My buddy from vegas can fly it out of the air, stand on the wall for a minute, and then backflip back into the column! The walls at Flyaway are set back from the column about 4 feet, Very very cool! But he is also very very experienced! I myself can fly it, but really have no interest. Every time I have flown one, all I can think about is how limited I am with this damn thing on my feet!
I think it would be cool to see other people getting good at this, 2 ways and stuff but I really don't want to see it in ANY skyventure. Way too dangerous with no outs, and steel walls. Especially if they keep making those things with more, and more airspeed. Poor Olav, and no skyboard on his feet thank god!. think about it. Besides all of that if the board came off I would imagine it would cost that particular skyventure a nice penny to fix the fan it hits.

| Sean MacCormac has flown one in SVO. He's amazing in the sky I will cherish the day I see him in the tunnel with his sky board. I will no doubt be drooling on the glass. Maybe I can con him into doing it one session when he's coaching me. I don't think many people turn down free tunnel time.
Kick *** Shane, I figured you've dabbled in at least everything by now. I think I'd be terrified of strapping a board to my feet. Maybe some day in the very distant future I'll give it a whirl but for now, upside down is hard enough for me

| | NO THANK YOU!! I have no interest what-so-ever in strapping a 'propeller' to my feet and flying around the tunnel! Have you ever seen someone spin outta control on one of those things! Gosh I've heard stories about people with bleeding EYES!!!! Anyway, I've seen a skyboard in flight at Flyaway Pigeon Forge several times, there were two guys here really pretty good at it. It looked very challenging and I must say, everyone is always impressed by this as it's unusual and certainly very dangerous. You gotta love the adventurous nature of these Flyaways... really I guess with 20 years of operation they have nearly done it all!!!

| I've never seen 'Tunnel Boarding' before .. Managed to catch the guy doing some on the Olympic closing ceremony, looks awesome!
I think from a spectator perspective it's really cool, however as far as flying with a board strapped to your feet could be somewhat risky.. !
Has anyone got any pics?

| I'm gonna have to agree with Shaner on this one. It's fun but I feel limited by it. Not to mention the fact that it feels like all the board wants to do is flip you over and land you on your neck. Sure is fun to watch Jeremy fly his board, and to do 2 or 3 ways with him. Flyaway Vegas has a myspace.com profile that has a video clip of instructors flying, including some real cool shots of Jeremy on the board. Check out www.myspace.com/flyawayindoorskydiving

| | yea, i have heard stories, things that make me have nightmares....like one foot flying out, and the results are not good, the whole spinning till your eyes bleed, or the board twisting around at the bottom of a ridgid leg, breaking it in several places each turn....i think i will pass on that...a guy at work blew out his shoulder messing around with a snowboard in the tunnel, and another guy lost his board, just to have it plummet 21 feet, crashing into his head at the bottom....he had a helmet on though, but it still nearly knocked him out....but like i said, these are just stories I have heard, and I cant vouch for the legitamacy of them. |
