It's the same in most things in life .. the smartest people and the "best" people at key things are sometimes not the best teachers (ofcourse sometimes they are - and if so - wooo!!).

My first ever experience of coaching was at SVO a few years ago now .. it was quite late at night on a Saturday (don't know why it was then) and my coach who was SVO staff clearly had a very very busy day with tourists .. he was in a foul mood and very non communicative .. I left only having learned a fraction of what I could have done and feeling pretty shitty.

Strangely ..I know this personal very well now .. and I have never, ever, ever, ever seen them like that since and have had futher coaching from them which has been absolutely superb. In fact better than superb. It just goes to show that the mood and energy levels of the coach are pretty important .. so maybe an option on the poll should be "Coach should not be overworked!" ;-)

RE: What's important to you in a coach?

Nope, you'll find none of that here. We're all about friends, advice and helping eachother out.

Paige, I sent you a PM the other day which you might (or might not!!) find interesting. Have a read and give me a shout back.

RE: What's important to you in a coach?

But thank goodness there isn't the bickering, name calling and extreme judgementalism (is that even a word) here that goes on at dz.com

RE: What's important to you in a coach?

Haha .. It has been quiet !!

I think we should have a 'no lurker' day once a week, there's loads of people registered who haven't posted.. I'm sure they have some good views and opinions they could share if they weren't so shy!

If you have registered on these forums and not posted yet - don't be shy. Def. an invaluable tool for tunnel training.

RE: What's important to you in a coach?

Just keep doing what you do, Paige. It works really well. And, it is a bonus that video review is also an option!

RE: What's important to you in a coach?

You may see your mistakes on video but you won't know how to fix them correctly w.o a coach (unless you have a set of base skills first). Even then, NO ONE has all the answers and fixes.

When you stop learning from others you stop a successful progression.

Also, a good coach won't take up your time demonstrating things unless you request that. A good prebrief and in tunnel instruction should do the trick.

RE: What's important to you in a coach?

A REWIND button, because a camera is the only "coach" that isn't using space in the tunnel...

What's important to you in a coach?

What's important for you to find in a coach?

Please add anything I left out.
