I'd love to visit New Zealand one day, it looks like there's another excuse to go now!!

Has anyone been here? What's the tunnel like? Doesn't look dissimilar to the AAC .. Is it as good?

I wonder if they fly hobbits in there..

I second that! (Visiting NZ someday too)

The tunnel has flown some very large people in it's day so I know it has some power behind it, but it's more like one of the traditional tunnel models with a prop and an airbag.  It won't be much like AAC other than it's outside and open air, but there are alot of those types out there too.  It looks great and fast and the owner is very happy with it's performance!  It does have a top net though to keep people from going up to high

I was in New Zealand in October and November of 2005 and flew about 30 minutes at FreeFallXtreme.  The staff is very cool but management doesn't let them fly for fun often enough.  Their wind is very fast, probably 130mph topped out.  Collumn is VERY narrow though, very easy to fall out of, especially if there is any cross-wind.  The top net is a good idea, the pads aren't as soft as they look, but it could be taller.  I caught my feet on it every time I did a back flip.  I had a great experience there, don't miss it if you are ever in the country.

Hi All

My friend and i flew for 6 mins each today at Rotorua. It cost us $70 NZ each which I think is a really good deal. It usually costs that for 4 mins but Skydivers get an extra 2 mins free!.

I have 260+ jumps & 3 hours tunnel time at Aerokart,Perris & Genting (Malaysia) and this was the 'Least' good tunnel of the ones I have tried ( I refrain form saying worst, coz I'm not sure there is such a thing!! A tunnel is a tunnel.............)

Don't get me wrong, we had a great time, it was really good fun but this 'tunnel' is more of a tourist attraction than a Skydiving practice 'tool'. Me being on the 'large' side, 95kg's didn't help, I struggled to stay above the net,I did manage a few 360's tho, but thats not to say it cant be done coz the guy that worked there was great, belly and back flying!

However It was such a different flying position to what i'm used to 6 mins was nowhere near enough to get used to the position. Although, for me, 6 mins was plenty.

If your in the area then definately check it out. It's really good fun and the guys there were great. Just dont expect too much. Maybe it was me? I'm definately not an expert but I have flown in 4 tunnels now and I certainly expected to be able to do more.

It was my mates first time in a tunnel, BEER, and he loved it. So, please check it out if your in the area. The more skydivers that have a fly the more chance there is of it getting even better.

I now look forward to getting back to the UK in 2 weeks and getting some time in both Bedford and Airkix.................

Bring it on!!

Gary
