| | Hi, just got back from Airkix having taken my sister for her first flight (40th birthday treat!) and my 5yr old son for his second flight- a great success as he was flying solo at the top of the window having a great time!! Me, my fourth time in and things are progressing well - but I'm wondering if there is anyone out there that thinks you benefit from seeing different instructors every visit, or whether it would be better if there was a way to book the same instructor? Whilst I'm not a golfer, I know that most folks would get confused if they booked a string of lessons and saw a different pro on each visit....... In summary, thanks to Freddy for today, we'll all be back soon - just got to work out how to sell my soul, or remortgage - this is going to get expensive as the 5yr old is looking good and wants to go every day!! |

| Find a coach to work with consistantly. Make sure they know their stuff, are fun, positive, and willing to push you (or not- whatever you want- it's your time, own it ).
It never hurts to change it up a little. Each flyer has tricks they are good at, learn fun new things or get another perspective on a frustrating skill. Consistancy is good but changing it up every once in a while can be very beneficial.
Just my 2 cents though

| yeah there's a lot to be said for trying out a different coach every now and then, but by and large I tend to think that sticking with the same coach (or maybe 2 coaches) whilst you're developing your flying skills is the way to go. If you have problems getting the same coach at Airkix or any other tunnel anywhere in the world then don't hesitate to ask for the man or woman in charge and tell them you want a training scheme that gives you access to the same people. Additionally there are a lot of coaches that do not work for the tunnel but can come in with you and train you and this is another option to explore - if you want help finding one then let me know because I know quite a few.

| | Thanks for that, I'm back in Airkix next w/e but only for 2x1mins with my son and Sister (she bought her boyfriend a flight so we're all going along). It will be interesting to see how much I can achieve in the short time - but I am going to make a point of talking to the instructor while the others are watching the video and see if we can work out something before I get in the chamber. I'll be happy with a bit more speed and practice going up and down and doing some turns. I have a younger boy who loved it when I flew down to where he was pressing his nose against the window last time. Just for interest I popped into Bedford last Sunday for a look around, and was very impressed with the set-up, and how well organised they seem to be. I didn't fly, but one observation was the noise, is it much louder than Airkix, or was that just because there were groups of 4 in there, and I've never seen more than 2 flying in MK. I'll definately try it out when funds allow, but there's an obvious downside with the location ....... where do you go for a beer? |

| | Well believe it or not, but I think they're putting a bar down there. I'll see if we can get someone to confirm that. |

| | Update, managed to get another quick visit in yesterday, this time with Son, Wife and Father-In-Law! And got the same instructor as a few weeks ago which was a great bonus as we got the chance to have a good chat while the first timers were watching the video. Got some good advice in relation to my simple view that 'you didn't give me enough wind last time', managed to try this out and certainly had no trouble going up (so much so that I was beginning to wonder how to get down again ......... only joking!) All in all, much more enjoyable! If you're watching, thanks Freddy for looking after the boy so well, and apologies for the Grandad with the stiff legs and the wife who tried to back fly on her second flight - good catch!! |

| | After my first visit last night, 11/3/06, to Sky Venture in New Hampshire, I have calculated how many minutes of fly time I can buy after cashing out my 401K account. Man this is addictive!!!!!!! Can you still sell a child on the black market? How many minutes does this get me? Just kidding. I love my family and this Sunday we are all going for a 4 min. gig. My three year old can't wait! And as you can read....nor can. Thanks to Nick at Sky Venture for the great instruction and first visit. What a rush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fred N.
